Midnight Letters is a serialised novel delivered slowly by post.

Each envelope reveals a new fragment of the unfolding story — allowing readers to experience the narrative as readers once did in the nineteenth century, when stories appeared in instalments.

The current Chronicle features an original novel “Once Upon a Scandal” written by Tatjana Ucci, a Regency-inspired tale of secrets, encounters and whispered intrigues.

Inside the envelope

You may find:

• A Letter Before the Scandal — an atmospheric introduction to the episode
• The Chapter — the next portion of the story
• Music for the Scandal — a playlist to accompany the reading
• The Whisper Page — a letter, diary entry or secret document from the story world
• Behind the Chapter — a short note from the author
